Multi-Homed WAN Gateways

In today's Internet-driven world, WAN failure is not an option. Protecting against WAN outages while adding WAN capacity is critical. However, achieving either goal using conventional solutions is both complex and expensive. These approaches require expensive equipment, specialized staff, and in most cases ISP cooperation, placing it out of the financial reach of small/medium-sized businesses and even branch offices.

The iSurfJanus™ Family of Multi-Homed WAN Gateways is designed specifically to bring outage protection and augmented bandwidth at a price within reach of small/medium-sized businesses and branch offices. iSurfJanus lets you use multiple Frame Relay, Leased Lines, and Broadband links in nearly any combination. For instance, DSL can be added to a T1 for inexpensive backup or added bandwidth. And for smaller offices, multiple DSL lines are an inexpensive alternative to a T1; simultaneously providing more bandwidth, high-speed backup, and lower monthly connectivity costs.

iSurfJanus can be transparently deployed into existing installations and includes all the functions of a LAN/WAN Gateway: NAT, DNS Server, DHCP server, Static Routing, and optional Stateful Firewall and IPSec 3DES VPN with VPN Load Balancing and VPN Backup. And for Service Providers, the transparent installation and multi-WAN capabilities make iSurfJanus an ideal platform for offering augmented bandwidth or WAN backup services, even allowing selling services into customers of competing Service Providers.

Frame Relay-based networks can also enjoy the price and performance benefits of broadband. With an optional IPSec VPN, iSurfJanus CX can use broadband with VPN for both augmented bandwidth and protection against WAN outages in branch office Frame Relay links. And with a "transparent configuration option" it can be dropped into an existing network without reconfiguring the existing LAN or WAN router. At the headquarters, another iSurfJanus is used to ensure session-based load balancing back to the branch office. The HQ iSurfJanus can provide VPN services or work with existing VPN/WAN equipment to deliver load balancing between the Frame Relay network and Broadband VPN
