Roomster , Inc.

Roomster's Digital Content Delivery Platform is a fully integrated end-to-end software solution for managing and delivering digital content for in-room entertainment and information. Written in Linux and using off the shelf server and client hardware, the Roomster platform is a low-cost, reliable, flexible, scalable, and easily customized solution. RoomsterDVOD streams content, on demand, to Set Top Boxes (STB), playing the decoded files on TV's or other display technologies. With features such as pause, fast forward, rewind, and DVD quality video and audio, Roomster delivers a memorable experience to end users in hotels, hospitals, educational institutions, retail locations, and other multi-dwelling environments.
Roomster also develops a USB smart TV adapter and SDK libraries for non-commercial Hospitality TV such as Philips & Zenith. User can use GCT-Allwell's remote to control the STB through Hotel & Hospital grade RJ12 smart TV interface.

Roomster announces commercial installation of state of the art Linux-based streaming digital Video-on-Demand technology at the new Avalon Hotel and Spa in Portland, Oregon

Says Paul Brenneke, Avalon's developer and managing director, "When we first decided to build the hotel, we knew it would occupy a unique niche in the local hospitality market, and we wanted the best of everything from technology to design to location. Combining a modern 'Euro-chic' design ethic on a site at the southern fringes of downtown Portland on the banks for the Willamette River in the exclusive Johns Landing district, gave us something no other hotel offers - access to a vibrant downtown with the tranquility and beauty of a country setting."

Continues Brenneke, "So I hired a technology consulting company to develop a state-of-the-art in-room entertainment system. The beta system worked so well, we launched Roomster and began to market the software to other hotels and other MDU markets."

Roomster's technology offers guests the ability to watch any movie title at any time, with start-stop-pause capability, with full digital quality picture and sound. Every movie is available to every guest when he or she wants it.

Roomster distributes its software through a dealer channel comprised of broadband infrastructure and Internet providers to the hospitality (and other MDU) markets. Roomster already has major dealer agreements in place covering the East coast and West coast regions, and discussions ongoing with dealers in the Midwest, south, and southwest.

Roomster's end-to-end system which encompasses its proprietary digital product database, video server, transaction processing engine, and set top box software is based entirely on the open-source Linux operating system. This allows Roomster engineers access to the source code. This not only creates a smaller application footprint, but also eliminates the licensing fees required for Windows-based application development and deployment.

"Lower costs and proprietary software give us a distinct competitive advantage," adds Rick Kay, Roomster's CTO, "and we offer a complete solution from server to set top box making our architecture easily customizable and adaptable to a variety of multiple dwelling markets."

Says Colleen Paynich, Roomster's VP of Corporate Development, " Distributing our software through our dealer network gives us access to hundreds of hotels and thousands of rooms. Partners like these who already provide broadband Internet access and infrastructure to the hotel industry, give us the business viability and credibility that any new company needs to get established. We've also partnered with one of the largest VOD hardware makers, Taiwan's GCT Allwell to guarantee the source of the equipment necessary to deploy our systems worldwide."

Roomster is a privately held Oregon corporation financed by individual investors in Portland, Seattle, and Los Angeles.
